~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ To all to whom these presents shall Come Greeting ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Know Ye that we for & in Consideration of the Sum of Fifty Shillings for every 
Hundred  acres hereby Granted paid into Our Treasury by Hammond Wilkerson have 
given & Granted and by these presents do give & grant unto the sd. Hammond 
Wilkerson a Tract of Land Containing Six Hundred & forty acres lying & being 
in Our County of Granville on the Middle prong of Beaverdam Creek & Low 
Grounds (sic ?) Beginning at a red Oak at the Mouth of a branch & running up 
the Same forty four poles to a pine thence Bradfords line East One Hundred 
poles to a pine then his other line North One Hundred & Eighty poles to a 
Willow Oak in a pond then his line east Eighty poles to a Maple on a branch 
then up the Same North Sixteen poles to a W oak then his line east Eighty five 
poles to a B J (sic Black Jack?) thence his line North Seventy Nine poles to a 
Gum & W oak on Blalocks line to a br (sic branch?) by Hettles (?) then up the 
Meanders of the Same One Hundred & Eighty five poles to a Gum on the road 
thence South Sixty one Degrees West One Hundred & Ninety poles to a Corner on 
the Creek thence down the Meanders of the Same to the first Station; As by the 
plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all Woods Waters Mines 
Minerals Hereditaments & appurtenances to the sd Land belonging or 
appertaining; To hold to the sd Hammond Wilkerson his heirs & assigns forever 
Yielding & paying, to wit, Such Sums of Money Yearly or otherwise as Our 
General assembly from time to time May direct Provided always that the sd 
Hammond Wilkerson shall [Cause this] Grant to be Registered in the Registers 
office of Our Said County of Granville within Twelve [Months from the] Date 
hereof otherwise the same shall be Void & of no Effect [In] Testimony whereof 
we have Caused Our Great Seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Richard Caswell 
esquire Our Governor Captain General & Commander in Chief at Kingston the 
first day of March in the fourth Year of Our Independence & in the Year of Our 
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
