Granville County, NC - Deed – John Stovall Senr to Bartholomew Stovall, 1765 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Granville County Deed Book H, p. 30 This Indenture made this sixth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and sixty five Between John Stovall Senr of the province of North Carolina and County of Granville of the one part and Bartholomew Stovall of the same province and County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Stovall Senr. for and in Consideration of the full and Just Sum of Twelve pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Bartholomew the receipt whereof the said John Stovall Senr. doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell deliver and confirm unto the said Bartholomew Stovall his heirs and assigns forever one Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying and being in the province and County aforesaid on both sides of Jonathans Creek Containing by Estimation two hundred and ten Acres be the same more or less and Bounded as follows Vit Beginning at white oak on the East side of Jonathans creek thence running South 120 pole to a pine thence partly North East 230 pole to a red oak on the creek thence crossing the said creek at the mouth of the spring creek thence up the sd Creek including half the spring to a poplar thence North 75 pole to a white oak thence East to the first Station, together will all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto or in anywise appertaining To have and to hold the above sold lands and premises with all the appurtenances unto the said Bartholomew Stovall his heirs and assigns forever To have hold use Occupy posses and enjoy the same with every part and parcel thereof to him the said Bartholomew Stovall his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of the said Bartholomew Stovall his heirs and assigns forever against him the said John Stovall Senr his heirs or assigns and Against the Claim and demand of all other persons whatsoever shall and will by these presents warrant and forever defend the same.
