THIS INDENTURE Made this twenty fourth day of July one thousand Seven Hundred 
& Eighty Between Wiat Wilkerson & Mary his wife of the County of Granville & 
state of No Carolina of the One part & Ro Lewis Senr of the County of 
Goochland & Commonwealth of Virg of the other part Witnesseth that the said 
Wiat Wilkerson & Mary his wife for & in Consideration of the sum of Eight 
Hundred & thirty two pounds Ten Shillings procl Money to them in hand paid by 
the sd Ro Lewis Senr the rect whereof they doth hereby acknowledge hath given 
granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell 
unto the sd. Ro Lewis Senr his heirs & assigns forever all that tract or 
parcel of land Situate lying in the above Sd County & state of North Carolina 
on the North side of Tar River & bounded as follows, To wit, Beginning on Tar 
River the Mouth of a branch running east with Wilkersons line to a black Gum 
thence North on the said line to a Corner white Oak thence East with the sd 
line to persons’s line thence South with Persons’s line two Hundred poles to 
Lewis’s old line thence Seventy degrees west Sixty four poles south his line 
thence South forty two poles to the river thence up the said River to the 
Beginning Containing three Hundred & twenty five acres the same More or less 
together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging To have & to hold the 
aforesaid three Hundred & twenty five acres of Land with the appurtenances 
aforesaid unto the said Ro. Lewis Senr his heirs & assigns forever & the said 
Wiat Wilkerson & Mary his wife for themselves & their Heirs doth covenant & 
agree with the sd. Ro. Lewis Senr his heirs & assigns that they the said Wiat 
Wilkerson & Mary his wife & their heirs the above Mentioned three Hundred & 
Twenty five acres of Land with the appurtenances unto the sd Ro. Lewis his 
heirs & assigns against all persons whatsoever doth Warrant & by these 
presents forever defend In Witness whereof the sd. Wiat Wilkerson & Mary his 
wife hath hereunto Set their hands & affixed their Seals the day & Year above

This Deed was acknowledged by Wiat Wilkerson to be his Act & Deed & ordered to 
be registered then Mary wife of the said Wiat was privately examined by 
Sherwood Harris esqr who reported that She freely relinquished right of Dower
