THIS INDENTURE Made this 31 day of October 1783 Between John Wilkerson of the 
County of Granville & State of No Carolina of the one part & Josiah Daniel of 
the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the sd John 
Wilkerson for & in consideration of the Sum of Ninety pounds current Money in 
Specie to him in hand paid the rect. whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath 
granted bargained sold & by these presents doth grant bargain Sell alien 
release and confirm unto the sd Josiah Daniel his heirs or assigns a Certain 
Tract or parcel of Land Situate on the waters of Grassy Creek in the County of 
Granville & bounded as follows To wit Beginning on Charles Spauldings line on 
the South side of Grande road at a corner white oak saplen then South on the 
sd line 140 poles to a hickory in Josiah Daniels line then west on Said 
Daniels & Blackwells line to Richd Daniels line then North on Davis’s & J L 
Malones line to a black Oak Saplin 80 poles then a N-- line to the first 
Station one Hundred & Eighty Six & a half acres be the same either more or 
less & all the reversion & reversions remainder & Remainders rents & Services 
thereof & all the estate right Title property claim & demand of him the sd 
John Wilkerson of & unto the sd land & premises & appurtenances & of in & unto 
every part & parcel thereof To have & to hold the said then granted land & 
premises & appurtenances thereto belonging to the sd Josiah Daniel his heirs 
and assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the sd Josiah Daniel his 
heirs & assigns forever & the sd. John Wilkerson doth covenant grant to & with 
the sd Josiah Daniel that the sd Josiah Daniel the aforesd piece or parcel of 
Land against the claims of him the sd John Wilkerson his heirs &c and against 
the claim or claims of  all & every other person or persons will warrant & 
forever defend by these presents unto the sd Josiah Daniel his heirs & assigns 
forever In Witness whereof the sd John Wilkerson hath hereunto set his hand & 
affixed his Seal the day & date first above Written ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
