THIS INDENTURE Made the third day of August one Thousand Seven Hundred & 
Seventy Nine Between Isaac Williams and Jesse Williams administrators of James 
Moore of Southhampton County in the Commonwealth of Virginia of the one part & 
Wiatt Wilkerson of the County of Granville and State of North Carolina of the 
other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the Sum of one thousand 
Six Hundred & Sixty five pounds proclamation Money to them in hand paid by the 
said Wiatt Wilkerson the receipt whereof the said Isaac Williams and Jesse 
Williams acknowledge themselves fully satisfied hath granted bargained & sold 
& doth by these presents grant bargain sell & deliver unto the said Wiatt 
Wilkerson all that tract and parcel of Land & plantation Situate lying & being 
in the said County & State of North Carolina aforesaid on the North Side of 
Tar River & bounded To wit, Beginning at a red oak & Gum on the bank of the 
said River Harris’s Corner Runing along his line East 20 poles to a poplar 
thence his line No. 54 poles to a pine & red Oak thence to & along Carrell’s 
line in all east 200 poles t a pine thence south 380 poles to a red Oak thence 
by Lewis line west or South 70 west 64 poles to a white Oak thence his line 
South 42 pole to a hickory on the bank of the River thence up the said River 
as it Meanders to the first Station Containing in the whole Six Hundred & 
fifty acres be the same more or less To have & to hold the aforesaid land & 
premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Wiatt 
Wilkerson his heirs & assigns forever & we do hereby warrant & forever defend 
the aforesaid granted bargained & sold lands & premises unto the Said Wiatt 
Wilkerson his heirs & assigns forever against them their heirs & against the 
Just Claim of any person or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof we have 
hereunto set our hands & Seals the day & Year above Written ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
