The Standard of Raleigh:  Sept. 3, 1862
                      TRIBUTE OF RESPECT
                 MOUNT ENERGY LODGE # 140
                GRANVILLE COUNTY, JUNE 18TH, 1862
   Whereas, it has pleased Almighty God in his infinite wisdom to take from 
our midst, and from his family and large circle of mourning friends and 
relatives, our much esteemed brother, WILLIAM HORNER, the devoted companion, 
kind father and useful neighbor, therefore:
   RESOLVED, That while we keenly feel and deeply deplore our loss in the 
death of BROTHER HORNER, we bow in humble submission to the will of Almighty 
God in taking our brother to the Celestial Lodge above, knowing that He doeth 
all things well.
   RESOLVED, That we are admonished by the removal of BROTHER HORNER, of our 
own immortality, and that it becomes us, as accountable beings to Almighty 
God, to make that needed preparation for our removal.
   RESOLVED, That we deeply sympathize with the bereaved family, and pray God 
may be to his widow, a husband, and to his children a father. 
   RESOLVED, That a blank leaf in our Secretary's book be inscribed to his 
memory.
   RESOLVED, That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the deceased family 
and  also to the Raleigh Standard and State Journal with a request that 
the "Spirit of the Age" publish the same.
