Granville County, NC - Moses Jones Revolutionary War Pension, 1855 July 16, 1921 Mrs. Cornelia E. Norris Blount Street Raleigh, NC Dear Madam: You are advised that it appears from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim S.8752 that Moses Jones was born, date not given, and reared in Granville County, North Carolina. While residing in Granville County he enlisted in 1780 and served one year as private in Captain Gooch's Company, Colonel Sutherland's North Carolina Regiment. He served six months, names of officers and dates not given, and six months and was in the battle of Yorktown, name of officers not stated. He was allowed pension on his application executed November 23, 1855 then a resident of Orange County, North Carolina and aged ninety- five years. There are no data as to family.
