Granville County, NC - Thomas Ross Revolutionary War Pension, 1832 ~~~~~~~~~~ April 21, 1933 Mrs. J.W. Dunlap Ansonville, NC Dear Madam: By request of Honorable Josiah William Bailey you are herein furnished the Revolutionary War records of Thomas Ross. The data which follow were obtained from papers on file in the pension claim S.4126 based upon the military service of Thomas Ross. He was born September 1, 1760 in Granville, North Carolina. The names of his parents were not given. While living in Wake County, North Carolina, he enlisted March 1, 1779, served as private in Captains Alsey High's, Montford's and Ramsey's Companies in Colonel Michael Rogers' North Carolina Regiment and was discharged December 1, 1779. Soon after the battle of Gates' Defeat at Camden he enlisted and served three months in Captain Chamless' Company in Colonel Archibald Lytle's and Williams' North Carolina Regiments. He was allowed pension on his application executed August 20, 1832 at which time he was living in Wake County, North Carolina. Thomas Ross died January 5, 1840 leaving a widow, Lucretia, whom he married in October 1817. Her maiden name was not given. She was living in 1842. The papers in this pension claim contain no further data relative to the soldier's family. Very truly yours, A.D.
