BENJAMIN WESLEY ADCOCK
A SAD ACCIDENT
  Mr. Benjamin Adcock and son, of Granville County, were returning to their 
home from a morning’s plowing. They were riding on the horse with the 
harness unhitched. The horse became frightened, and the first jump three Mr. 
Adcock and his son, the son falling to the ground but not seriously hurt. 
Mr. Adcock’s foot became entangled in the gear, and in the mad race of a 
mile he was dragged to death, the horse arriving at a neighbor’s home with 
the lifeless body still at the animal’s side. He leaves a wife and five 
small children.
