Oxford, NC, September 22
A horrible accident occurred here yesterday about noon, which resulted in the
death of Dock McKnight, a colored employee of the Southern railway. The deceased
was on top of a box car which was suddenly jostled by coming in contact with
another car while the train was being shifted, precipitating him violently to
the ground in such a position that he was crushed diagonally across his body by
the wheels passing over him.
