J. L. Jackson, the late genealogist in Pitt, had access to this Bible about 50 years ago, and his interpretation of the information is in the J. L. Jackson Papers at Shepard Library in Greenville. Note that while his expertise in reading old documents was high, his typing was subject to error, and subject to my interpretation. Furthermore, my copy of it is also typed (by now a 3rd-generation removed from the original) and is also subject to typos. Please take all this into consideration as you decide how reliable the actual information might be! The Cannon Bible From the J. L. Jackson Papers, Shepard Library, Greenville, N. C. The data copied by Mr. Jackson (probably in the 1940s or 1950s) is represented here exactly as found in his papers, obviously paraphrased. He had added notes in the margins which are placed in parentheses in this transcription. Bracketed notes are editorial. The Bible, credited to the possession of Alonza Dail, was transcribed by Wm. L. Murphy in the 1980s. Jackson wrote: "Data from Bible of Patsy Hart-Cannon, published in 1814 and now in possession of Rev. Alonza Dail of Winterville, NC."
