JOHN WILLIAM POPE GRIMSLEY BIBLE

Printed 1824.

Handwritten copy in the papers of Frederick Lee Edwards. Bill Murphy 
states this Bible was last known to be in Greensboro, NC.

NOTE: This Bible is a little misleading. It states that James Albritton 
was the son of Peter Albritton which is disproved both from his 
tombstone which states he was the son of Matthew and Susan and Pitt County 
records. Peter Albritton did have a son James who died in 1799. John 
William Pope Grimsley married Mary Albritton daughter of James Albritton. 
James Albritton had three proven wives, 1) unknown Hodges daughter of 
Robert Hodges (as proven by a Pitt county deed from Robert Hodges to his 
grandson John Hodges Albritton son of James), 2) Sarah Pope daughter of 
John and Mary Pope and 3) Martha (Patsy) May Streeter, widow of 
JOHN Streeter and daughter of Benjamin May. James had issue by all his 
wives, but all of their names are not known and we are not sure of the 
mother in some cases. (mmm)

Elizabeth Dixon the daughter of John Dixon by Nancy his wife was born 
Feb. 22, 1833

Edward's handwritten notes but according to William Murphy it was in the 
copy of the Bible he possessed.
