JOHN SUGG RECORD

A typed copy in the John Sugg File at NSDAR Library, Washington, DC.

It does not say so, but this typed copy probably came from "Dobbs County, NC 
Bible Records, Volume I" by William (Bill) Murphy who had the original in his 
possession. Since his Collection is in the Manuscript Division, Joyner Library, 
ECU, I assume the original is in his Collection.

The introduction in the book states - "This record was found among the papers of 
Martha Sugg Dixon of "Sandy Lawn", near Hookerton, Greene County.  It appears to 
be a Bible or Church record copied from some source now lost which dealt with the 
family of John Sugg and Elizabeth Murphrey of "Rattle Hill", on Rainbow Creek near 
Hookerton.  Now in the possession of the compiler."

stood forth

Benjamin, son of Jno. Sugg and Betsey aforsd was christnd at Willmsburgh 13 day of 
June Ano Dom. 1759 Peyton Randolf. Willm Prentis & Lady stood forth

John, son of Jno. Sugg Senr and Betsey aforsd. was christnd at Williamsburgh 9 day 
of Septmr Our Lord 1760  Coll. Chiswall, Tony Haye & Mary Prentiss stood forth

Lucy & Robert, twin infants of John Sugg & Betsy his wife christind at Westover 
Church 20 day of Aprill Ano. Dom 1762 Elizabeth Harrison, Mary Dawson, Willm. Coles. 
Willm., Roscoe stood forth

Elizabeth, daughter of Jno. Sugg & wife Christd. at Westover Church the 10 day of 
October Ano D. 1764  Willm Lightfood and Lady, Susan Sheelds stood forth

Mary, daughter of Jno. Sugg and Elizabeth his wife christd at Willmsburg on 19 day 
of Decembr 1765 Anne Ascue, Sarah Waters, Ann Haye stood forth

Mary, daughter of aforsd. John & Elizabeth Sugg died at Willmsburg & was buried 
Febryary 2 1766

Aquilla, son of John and his wife Betsey Sugg was christened at Westover Church 31 
day of August Ano Domini 1768 Benjm. Harrison, John Ming, Elizabeth Harrison stood 
forth

Esther, daughter of Jno. Sugg and wife was christend at Westover Church 20 day 
October 1770 Sarah Jones, Ann Prentiss, Willm. Randolf stood forth
