STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA - GREENE COUNTY Whereas at February Term AD 1857 of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Greene county the following persons tenants in common of certain negroes to them belonging to (wit) ELISHA G. COWARD, JESSE COWARD, JR., SPENCER P. FIFE and wife MARY, WM J. ? POPE, ELIZABETH COWARD and WM W. COWARD by his Guardian REDDING HARPER filed their petition praying for a sale of the said Negroes set forth in their petition in order to have a partition ---- Therefore this indenture --- and the further sum of three hundred and one dollars in hand paid by WILEY T. MOSELEY --- sell ----= a certain Negro woman by the name of RANY --- to said WILEY T. MOSELEY --- I, JOHN H. COWARD as commissioner ---- defend this title --- 18th day of February AD 1857 - Jno H.
