#4379 – BRITT vs PATTERSON

NC Supreme Court Case, found at the NC Archives, Raleigh, NC

Dec. 1848 – Greene Co.

At the Superior Court March Term 1848 John Patterson brought a petition – John 
Britt brought a paper – both papers had figures

State of NC Pitt Co
Petition of John Patterson late of Greene Co – on 28 July 1847 John Britt of 
Greene Co. sued John Patterson for $435 which he said was owed

John Patterson, John L. Taylor and Jesse Vause owe John Britt $200 on a note 
dated 18 Sept 1847 – the condition was sd Britt sued out an attachment for 
$435 which he said was due from Patterson – at some point John Britt, Benjamin 
F. Williams and James G. Edwards owed John Patterson $870 also an attachment

This case appears to be about an attachment on land and there may have been an 
earlier case in Greene Co – it is not clear in the case what it is about – it 
is possible a Deputy Sheriff or Justice of the Peace acted improperly 
regarding a Bond.
