Greene County, NC - Reddick Petition, 1874 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ REDDICK PETITION Original found at the NC Archives, Greene Co Civil Action Papers concerning land, CR. 045.325.17, Folder 1871 – 1876, Broken Series North Carolina, Green County The petition of James Reddick and Ben. F. Reddick respectfully show. 1. That they are as they are advised and celin ?? owners in fee simple of two small tracks of land adjoining or near each other in the County of Greene which descended to them from their father William Reddick 2. That one I. A. D. Phillips & wife Nancy are in possession of said land but which as petitions celius ?? has no title to the same 3. That petitioners desire to commence an action against said Phillips for the recovery of the possession & title of said land and have made great exactions ?? to obtain security to a bond to prosecute said action but after repeated ? efforts they are unable to do so. Your petitioners therefore pray that they may be allowed to prosicute a suit for the recovery of said land in form (next two words unreadable) giving a bond to prosecute the same. J. H. Haughton attor for Plff James Reddick and B. F. Reddick stated the above matters they believe to be true. Both signed by mark 1 Dec 1874 J. H.
