Caldwell to Ezekiel Creech - Greene County property This Indenture made the Nineteenth day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Seven between Thomas J. Caldwell of the State of North Carolina and County of Greene on the one part and Ezekiel Creech of the County of Lenoir and State aforesaid of the other part set forth thus the sd Thomas J. Caldwell for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Ezekiel Creech at my hand paid by the said Ezekiel Creech at and before the Sealing and delivering of these profess the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged that he the said Thomas J. Caldwell hath Bargain sold and with property doth bargain sell and confirm unto the said Ezekiel Creech his heirs and assigns for ever one certain Tract or parcel of Land Containing by Estimation Two Hundred Seventy Six and one quarter acres in the same more ore less lying or being in the County of Greene aforesaid on the North East side of Wheat Swamp adjoining the Land of Parrott Gray John Harrison and the heirs of Richard Hill and Lemuel Byrd Dec'd and bounded as followeth Beginning at the run of Wheat Swamp the ? South corner of Lot No 1 and runs that line No 10 West 494 poles to two Scrubby oaks on Harrison's Line then Fourth corner and leads So. And then from that North Seventy Three West Seventy Four poles to an old Black Jack Stump by Richard Hills hog pen then South 10 West seven poles to a pine then South 15 East Twenty Nine poles to a Stake Byrds corner then North his line South 10 East One Hundred Eighty Six poles to some small oaks then South Sixty four west 141 pole to the run of Wheat Swamp then down the wandering of the run of said creek to the Beginning Containing Two Hundred Seventy Six acres more or less Together with all Houses various waters and water courses thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining thereto belonging - To have and to hold the aforesaid land and bargained premises with every appertainance unto the said Ezekiel Creech his heirs and assigns for ever and every part and parcel thereof to the only proper use of his the said Ezekiel Creech his heirs Exr'd and admin and assigns forever____ In witness whereof I the said Thomas J. Caldwell have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this day and date above written Signed seald and Delivered in presence of viz Witnesses B G Byrd Thomas Caldwell Seal Stanton Taylor proved Viz..the words Aeris Byrds ?List Land and Every ?intertnd or above before assigned me State of North Carolina Greene County February Term 1839 Then was the foregoing deed Exhibited in open Court and the Execution duly proven by the oath of Stanton Taylor one of the Subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be Registered.
