STEPHEN COWARD TO CHARLES JOINER, 1839 INDENTURE 22 February 1839 - Stephen Coward of County of Greene of the one part and Charles Joiner of aforesaid county of the one part - $1,000.00 - sell all that tract deeded by Char. Edward Attorney of Enos Rogers by deed bearing date 1 March 1832 to William Ormond and by him deeded to him the said Stephen Coward and Sidney Coward on the 11th day of February 1837 and bounded as follows - beginning Amos Joiner's corner, Charles Joiners corner, a branch, near Clark's landing the dividing line between Amos Joiner and Stephen Coward - 175 acres signed only by Stephen Coward WIT Willis Dixon Newt D.(not clear if middle initial or a mark) Edwards I Sidney Coward of County of Greene by virtue of this my Indenture have for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators set over, transferred and conveyed and by these present do foseace ?? Quit Claim , set over, transfer and convey unto Charles Joiner, --- all that portion of that tract of land conveyed by William Ormond and Cordilla his wife to the said Sidney Coward and Stephen Coward by deed bearing date 11 February 1837 --- Sidney appears to have signed WIT Amos Joiner [NOTE: Sidney Phillips Coward was the widow of Cullen Coward, mother of Stephen Coward and Cordilla Ormond, wife of William. She was also the mother in law of Charles Joiner. It is possible this was her dower land. -- mmm]
