Greene County, NC - Deeds File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Jack D. Elliott, Jr. CARR, EXUM, JORDAN, WESTBROOK, HOLLIDAY - GREENE CO TO MS. The following documents were copied from Clay County Deed Book G, pp. 67-69, in the Clay County Courthouse West Point, Mississippi. It was copied from a deed book in Lowndes County Courthouse, Columbus, Mississippi, where it was originally recorded prior to the 1872 creation of Clay County. p. 67 Warranty Deed Allen Carr to William Jordan September 17, 1841 "...in consideration of and [sic] instrument of writing decreed to me Precella [sic] Jordan requesting and directing me the said Allen Carr to convey to William Jordan all the property both real and personal and the proceeds of the same mentioned in a deed of conveyance executed Titus Carr to the said Allen Carr on the 30th day of November 1835 conveying certain lands therein mentioned. Signed by Allen Carr on September 17, 1841 In Clay County Deed Book C, p. 494 Warranty deed April 20, 1841 D. W. Ragsdale and wife to Allen Carr (all of the above parties are residents of Lowndes County, Mississippi) For $5440 Section 14 T17 R6E Priscilla Carr Jordan was evidently born about 1812 in that she is listed as being 38 in 1850 and 59 in 1870. At the time I do not know when she died. Her husband William Jordan died in June 1864 according to a record of a case in Clay County Final Record Book #2, pp. 1-20. He was evidently born ca. 1815 in that he is listed as being 35 in the 1850 census. Children of Priscilla and William Jordan as listed in the 1850 census are: Elizabeth 11F Charles C. 9M Priscilla 7F Sydney 4F Elizabeth married (1) Charles Y. Westbrook on November 27, 1858 (he died 1861) (2) Titus Carr Exum on August 26, 1865 she died on January 16,1897. According to her headstone she was aged 55 years, indicating that she was born ca. 1841 in contrast to the 1850 census which has her born ca. 1839. Charles C. was apparently dead by 1878 in that he is not listed as an heir of William Jordan in the 1878 suit cited above. Priscilla married John T. Kerr. Sydney married on October 10, 1864 to John E. Jordan, who was the son of her father's brother (Charles R. Jordan, 1818-1876). __________________________________________________________________________ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
