N.C. Jno. C. Dixon Reg' of Deeds This indenture made this the twenty third day of January in the year of our lord One Thousand Eight hundred and fifty two between Wm. H. Speight of the County of Greene and State of North Carolina of the one part and Rachel Moye of the County and State aforesaid on the other part. Witnesseth that the said William H. Speight for and in consideration of the sum of Six thousand eight hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Rachel Moye the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained and sold unto the said Rachel Moye a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid and on the North side of Contentnea Creek bounded as follows, Beginning at an Oak Stump on the Stantonsburg road in the Spring branch and runs up said branch with Abner Speights line to the Tarborough road there up said road with said line to John Beamans corner then East wityh Beamans line to Ann Scarboroughs line and Beamans corner then South with that line to a post Oak Corner with John R. Dering then S 70 degrees W. 58 ½ p. to a stump John R. Derings corner then with the said Derings lione to a stump said Derings corner in the head of Beverlys branch on the Stantonsburg road then down said branch to the Mill Run then down the various courses of said branch to Contentnea Creek then up said Creek to the mouth of Rudy branch then up said branch to the mouth of a small branch then up said branch with Abner Speights line N 10 degrees E 19 p. to a pine then N 65 E 33 po. To the fork of ditch then N 34 W. 14 ½ po. To the fork of ditch then N 4 W. 20 po. Then N 75 E 36 poles then with said ditch and branch to a bunch of Catawba trees in the head of said branch then N 70 ½ E 125 poles to the beginning Containing Eight hundred and Sixty acres be the same more or less to have and to hold with all and singular the appertinances thereunto belonging or in otherwise appertaining and the said William H. Speight doth warrant and forever defend and binds his heirs and assigns to defend the right and title of the same free from the claims or claims of any and all persons unto the said Rachel Moye her heirs and assigns In witness whereof he hath hereto set his hand and seal the day and date above writen.
