This Indenture made on the Seventh day of December eighteen hundred and eighty one between Blaney SPEIGHT and wife Eliza SPEIGHT of the county Of Greene and State of North Carolina of the first part and Elias TURNAGE of the same county and State of the second, Witnesseth that the said Blaney SPEIGHT and wife Eliza SPEIGHT for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand and fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the said Elias TURNAGE at the time of executing these present the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed unto the said Elias TURNAGE his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in the County of Greene and State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of J.J. ORMOND, Charles STOCKS and others and bounded as follows beginning at the cross roads near Ormond's Chapel and runs North 27 East 31 poles & 10 links thence North 49 East 32 poles thence North 62 West 133 poles to a pine thence South 36 1/2? 32 poles to a White Oak thence South 37 1/2 West 28 poles to road thence with road South 62 East 133 poles tot he beginning containing 48 3/4 acres, more or less to have and to hold the said lands and premises with all the improvements thereon unto him the said Elias TURNAGE his heirs and assigns to him and their own proper use and be hoof in fee simple forever and the said Blaney SPEIGHT and wife Eliza SPEIGHT-their heirs all and singular the premises hereby conveyed to the said Elias TURNAGE his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend from the lawful claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Blaney SPEIGHT and wife Eliza doth hereunto set their hand and seal this the 7th day of December eighteen hundred and eighty one. ORMOND, Justice of the Peace Hereby certify that Blaney SPEIGHT and wife Eliza SPEIGHT personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the written Deed of Conveyance and the said Eliza SPEIGHT being by me privately examined separate and apart from her Husband -------- her voluntary execution of the sum doth State that She signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her husband or any other person and that she doth still voluntarly assent thereto.
