Greene County, NC - Barney Stanley to Calvin Tucker & Thos. Pridgen, 1854 This indenture, made the 4th day of Oct 1854, between Barney Stanley, of the Co. of Duplin & State of N.C. & Calvin Tucker & Thos. F. Pridgen, of the Co. of Lenoir & State aforesaid, executors of the last will & testament of Jas. B. Pridgen, dec'd, late of the County of Lenoir & State aforesaid, dec'd, parties of the first part & Barney Stanley, of the County of Duplin & State aforesaid, party of the second part, Witnessith: That the said parties of the first part, by virtue of the power & authority to them given in & by the said last will & testament, & for & in consideration of the sum of Twenty-four Hundred Dollars, lawful money of the U.S., to them in hand paid at or before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, by the said party of the second part, the receipts whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said party of the second part his heirs, ex'rs & adm'ns forever, released & discharged from the same by these presents, have granted, bargained, sold, alined, released, conveyed, & co,firmed & by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, aline, release convey & confirm unto the said party of the second part, his heirs & assigns forever, all that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, lying & being in the County of Greene & State of North Carolina, & which is known & described as follows. Beginning in Drewry Aldrige's Mill Pond, Joel Bryant's corner, (mentions Mitchell's line, Josiah Sugg's line, J.G. Sheppard dec'd line, Wm. Bryant's line, prong of Tyson's Marsh and Little Tyson's Marsh) containing 396 acres, more or less. To have and to hold the said bargained lands & premises to him the said Barney Stanley, their heirs & assigns forever, free & clear from all incumberances whatsoever. And we, said Calvin Tucker & Thos. F. Pridgen, for their heirs & assigns, always warrant & defend by virtue of the power & authority to them given in & by the said last will and testament of Jas. B. Pridgen, the title of the above bargained premises & lands, unto the said Barney Stanley, his heirs, ex'rs, adm'ns & assigns, against the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever.
