The Standard of Raleigh,  Aug. 26, 1863
DIED, in Greene County, N.C., on the 19th of July, 1863, in the 78th year of 
his age, EDWARD COWARD. The deceased lived to a ripe old age, and has been 
heard to remark on several occasions within the past two years, that he had 
lived too long, from the fact that he has seen his country in its greatest 
prosperity, but regretted that he had lived long enough to see it on the verge 
of ruin and destruction. He leaves two sons, one daughter, and a large circle 
of relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
