Ione Bynum May(b. Nov. 2, 1876- d. March 18, 1967) md. in Farmville,N.C., Dec. 22, 1896 to Travis Emanuel Hooker( b. Greene Co.,N.C., Sept. 18, 1870- d. June 5, 1935) son of Travis Emanuel and Pattie Rountree (Powell) Hooker. Ione was educated in art and music at Syracuse, N.Y. Travis moved to Greenville, N.C. in 1896. He had large farming interests and was in association with Heber L. Coward in the Old Star Tobacco Warehouse in Greenville, N.C. He was also associated with his brother, Thomas Hooker, in the wholesale grocery business. The Christian Church of Greenville, N.C. was organized in his home.
