Greene County, NC Courthouse
August 4, 1877, Cornelius Davis applied for a Marriage License for J. H. Moye 
and Mary E. Meeks, both of Greene Co. J. H. Moye, age 21, white, was son of 
Wm. Moye and Bethany Moye, both living in Greene Co. Mary E. Meeks, age 19, 
white, was daughter of Lewis W. Meeks and Sarah Ann Meeks, both dead.. The 
oral consent of Jas. M. Barfield, Guardian of Mary E. Meeks, to the proposed 
marriage was filed with John C. Dixon, Register of Deeds. J. H. Moye and Mary 
E. Meeks were united in matrimony on August 5, 1877 by James M. Barfield, 
Minister of the Free Will Baptist, at the home of J.M. Barfield in Olds 
Township. 

Witnesses were: James H. Hardy, James S. Speight, and Cullin Phillips, all of 
Greene Co.
