Greene County, NC - Will of Needham Grant, 1930 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ North Carolina Greene County I, NEEDHAM GRANT, of the county and state aforesaid, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. FIRST, My executors, hereinafter named, shall give my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my friends and relatives, and pay all funeral expenses together with all my just debts, out of the first moneys which may cross into their hands belonging to my estate. SECOND, I give and devise to my beloved friends, CEPHUS GRANT, PETER GRANT and MARY GRANT, their heirs and assigns, in fee simple forever, the tract or parcel of land, known as my home place and upon which I now live, containing by estimation about eighty six acres more or less and being the same land conveyed to me by my father JOHN GRANT, and which deed is duly recorded in the Register of Deeds Office of Greene County, North Carolina in Book No 2 page 177. THIRD, I give and bequeath to my beloved friends LULA BROWN, wife of BLANEY BROWN, ADDIE BROWN, wife of WILL BROWN, their heirs and assigns in fee simple forever, a tract or parcel of land containing about 52 1/2 acres more or less, and being known as the BUNN lands and being the second tract described in a deed from J Paul Frizzelle, commissioner, to me, and which said deed is duly recorded in the Register of Deeds Office of Greene County, North Carolina in Book No 12 page 328. FOURTH, I give and bequeath to my beloved friends, CEPHUS GRANT, PETER GRANT and MARY GRANT all my personal property of whatsoever nature and kind. The said CEPHUS GRANT, PETER GRANT and MARY GRANT has lived with me for several years and during the said time has rendered me valuable services in addition to care and attention when I am sick. FIFTH, It is my will and desire that the burial grounds or grave yard that is now upon my said lands, shall continue to be a public burial ground or grave yard for the burial of all persons wishing or desiring to be buried in said public grounds or grave yard. And the above named beneficiaries and their heirs and assigns, shall take the said lands subject to the rights and privileges of the aforesaid public burial grounds or grave yard. SIXTH, I hereby constitute and appoint my trusted friends CEPHUS GRANT and PETER GRANT my lawful executors, without bond, to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament, according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
