Greene County, NC - Will of Richard Grant, 1865 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I, RICHARD GRANT, of the County of Greene and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and publish my last will and testament in manner and form following. To wit: hereby revoking and declaring all wills heretofore by me made utterly void and of no effect. ITEM FIRST It is my desire that my executrix herein after named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my wife and children and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts however and to whomsoever owing, out of the monies that shall first come into her hands as a part and parcel of my estate. ITEM SECOND I give and bequeath to each one of my children one bed, bedstead and furniture and one hundred ($100) each. ITEM THIRD I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, ANN M. GRANT, all my real and personal property of every description after paying the legacies heretofore mentioned during her natural life, and at her death the same to be equally divided among my children share and share alike. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife, ANN M. GRANT, my lawful executrix to all intent and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same.
