Greene County, NC - Will of John W. Harrison, 1860 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I JOHN W. HARRISON of the County of Greene and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. That is to say. FIRST That my Executor (hereinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with all my just debts howsoever and whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into her hands as a part or parcel of my Estate. ITEM 2 I lend unto my beloved wife SARAH HARRISON the tract of land whereon I now live for and during her natural life or widowhood. ITEM 3 I lend unto my beloved wife SARAH HARRISON all my house- hold and Kitchen furniture all my stock of horses cattle sheep and hogs all the domestic fowl and poultry all the farming tools all the crop of every description and all the provisions on hand at the time of my death for and during her natural life or widowhood. ITEM 4 My will and desire is that my Executor sell one negro man named Isaac and two small tracts of land adjoining the lands of D.A. SUGG and THOMAS DAWSON if needed to pay debts. ITEM 5 My will and desire is as I have promised to let JONATHAN ELMORE have Ten acres of land whereon he now lives provided the said Jonathan Elmore pays the sum of fifty dollars on or before the first day of January A.D. 1864 with interest from January 1st A.D. 1860. Then my Executor give a Deed for said Ten acres of land to the said Jonathan Elmore. ITEM 6 My will and desire is that after the death of my wife SARAH HARRISON all my real and personal estate be equally devided among my children viz PENELOPE HARRISON, LIAS HARRISON, TABITHA HARRISON, JOHN HARRISON, LANEY HARRISON, LEMUEL HARRISON, TRAVIS HARRISON, ANN HARRISON, JESSE HARRISON to have and to hold to them and their heirs forever. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife SARAH HARRISON my lawful Executrix to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made.
