Greene County, NC - Will of Lamb Harrison, 1930

     I, LAMB HARRISON, of the county and state aforesaid, being of
sound mind, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence,
do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and
form as follows:
FIRST:  My executor, hereinafter named, shall give my body a decent
burial, suitable to the wishes of my friends and relatives, and pay all
funeral expenses, together with all my just debts out of the first 
money which may come into his hands belonging to my estate.
SECOND:  I give and devise to my beloved brother SIMPSON HARRISON,
his heirs and assigns in fee simple, subject however to a charge 
herein-after mentioned: the following described lands, to wit: My home 
place where I now live, containing about 27 acres more or less, of said 
lands inherited from my fathers (JOHN OXLEY HARRISON) estate one third 
and purchased two thirds of same from HENRY HARRISON and MOLLIE
HARRISON. I hereby charge the said Home Place with the sum of seven
($700) hundred dollars payable to the following named persons to wit:
DOCK THOMAS, JOHN THOMAS, LAMB THOMAS, SALLIE SMALL, CHRISTY HAM, EVA 
GAY, VIRGIE BARROW, the said charge of seven hundred dollars to be a 
lien and charge upon said land, but no interest to be paid upon 
said amount.
THIRD:  I give and devise to my beloved brother JESSIE HARRISON, his
heirs and assigns, in fee simple forever, subject to a charge 
hereinafter named, the following described lands to wit: a certain 
tract of land known as a part of the SALLIE HARRISON Home Place, 
containing about 20 acres more or less, and being the land that I 
purchased from Henry Barrow. I hereby charge the said lands with the 
sum of four hundred ($400) dollars payable to the B.A. THOMAS heirs as 
named in Item Second of this my last will: the said charge of four 
hundred dollars to be a lien and charge upon the said lands, but no 
interest to be paid upon said amount.
FOURTH:  I give and devise to my beloved brother HENRY HARRISON, his
heirs and assigns in fee simple forever, subject to a charge 
hereinafter named, the following described lands, to wit: a tract of 
land known as the Mooring lands contains about 44 acres more or less 
and being the land that I purchased from B.T. Mooring,  I hereby charge 
the said lands with the sum of three hundred ($300) dollars payable to 
the said B.A. THOMAS heirs as named in Item Second hereof, the said sum 
of three hundred dollars to be a charge and lien upon said lands.
FIFTH:  I hereby give and bequeath all my personal property of 
whatsoever nature and kind, with the exception of crops or rents: to my 
beloved bro-thers SIMPSON HARRISON, JESSE HARRISON, HENRY HARRISON and 
the said B.A. THOMAS HEIRS, that is to say that my three brothers each 
take one fourth of same, and the said Thomas Heirs take one fourth of 
same jointly.
SIXTH:  I give and bequeath to my said three brothers, to each one, the 
crops and rents arising from the said lands devised to them, provided 
if my personal estate is sufficient to pay all my debts and expenses of 
admini- stration, but in the event that the said personal estate is not 
sufficient to pay the said debts and expenses as aforesaid the said 
crops and rents to be considered personal estate in the hands of the 
said executor to be applied upon the said debts and expenses.
SEVENTH  I hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend, J.A. McCOY,  
my lawful executor to all intents and purpose to execute this my last 
will and testament, according to the true intent and meaning of the 
same every part and clause thereof. Hereby revoking and declaring 
utterly all other will and testaments by me heretofore made.
     In witness whereof, I the said LAMB HARRISON, do hereunto set my
hand and seal, this the 20th day of March, 1930.

Lamb Harrison to be his last will and Testament in the
presence of us, who at his request, and in his presence
and in the presence of each other, do subscribe our
names as witnesses thereto.
