Greene County, NC - Will of John Hill, 1887 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ State of North Carolina Greene County I JOHN HILL of the County and State aforesaid being of Sound mind and Memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say. ITEM FIRST I lend to my eldest Son JOHN R. HILL a portionably part of the west end of my plantation lying on the east side of Spring branch. At the death of my oldest Son JOHN R. HILL I give the said portion of land to the lawful children of his own body. I give to my eldest Son JOHN R. HILL two blankets and ten dollars in Gold in fee simple forever. ITEM SECOND I lend to my youngest Son HYMBRICK HILL a portionably part of the east end of my plantation on the east side of the public road. At the death of my youngest HYMBRICK HILL I give the said portion of land to the lawful children of his body. And if he dies without any lawful children of his own body the said portion of land Shall be equally divided among his brothers and sisters. I give to my youngest Son HYMBRICK HILL one bed and furniture and ten dollars in Gold in fee Simple forever. ITEM THIRD I give to my three daughters the balance of my plantation that is not heretofore mentioned including dwelling house and all out buildings and if either of them Should get married their portions of land must be divided equally among themselves as they may think proper to have and to hold the same in fee simple forever. And after all of my just debts are paid by my three daughters, I give each of three daughters fifteen dollars in Gold two beds each and furniture. I give to my three daughters all of household and Kitchen furniture that has not heretofore been mentioned. To my three daughters, I give all my Stock of horses, mules, cattle, Sheep and hogs, carts and farming utensils; Fodder, Corn and all of my provisions and all of my poultry in fee simple forever.
