Greene County, NC - Will of Richard Jones, 1872 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the name of God Amen. I RICHARD JONES of the County of Greene, and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, (blessed be God) do this the 18th day of March A.D. 1872 make & publish this my last will and testament, in manner following, that is to say: First I give my soul to God who gave it, my body to be disposed of as my friends see fit. As for my worldly estate, I dispose of it as follows; first, I want all my just debts paid. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, MAHALDY JONES, and my beloved daughter, SARAH JONES, all the tract of land I bought of OWEN W. JONES, and JAMES F. JONES jointly, and if I have any perishable property left after paying my debts, I leave that to my beloved wife, MAHALDY JONES. I give and bequeath to my son-in- law SILAS EDWARDS twenty seven and half acres of the land that I bought from JOHN G. BRITT for and in consideration of the money he has paid toward said land. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter ANN EDWARDS, all the balance of the tract of land I bought of JOHN G. BRITT, that has not been deeded away, and given away heretofore, and I also appoint THOMAS MOORE Executor of this my last will & Testament.
