Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00022.html#0005225 October 17, 2021, 3:49 pm Source: Register Of Deeds, Greene County, Nc, Bk. 1, P. 1-2 Written: 1868 Will of John LANE of Greene Co., NC Written: 9 April 1868 Probated: 10 August 1868 I, John LANE of the County of Greene and State of North Carolina being somewhat feeble in health but of Sound disposing mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my Last Will and in manner and form following that is to say First: I give my soul to my heavenly Farther who first gave it to me. 2nd: That my executor herein after named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owning, out of the money that may first come into his hands as a parcel or part of my Estate. 3rd: I give and devise to my three daughters to wit: Angelina B. LANE & Julia LANE and Mary LANE share and share alike all that tract of land whereon I now live with all the improvements; thereon containing about three hundred and fifty acres, and one other tract of land containing about fifty six acres, adjoining the lands of George W. LANE and J. B. FAIRCLOTH, it being a part of the tract of land that I purchased from James W. EDWARDS. 4th: My will and desire is that if either of my above named daughters should marry and leave the other two sisters that the married one shall not draw the house and lot whereon the dwelling stands so that it may remain a home for the two single ones. 5th: My will and desire is that my executor shall sell as much of the perishable part of my estate as will pay all my just debts, and then my three daughters shall have all the balance of my estate that I may own at my death of every nature and kind whatsoever to with household & kitchen, furniture of every kind, farming tools, carts and wagons, buggies, harness, horses and mules, cattle & hogs together with every other parcel or piece of property that may belong to me at my death share and share alike. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sons George W. LANE and Joseph J. LANE my lawful executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my Last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part & clause thereof whereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testament by me heretofore made. PATRICK, Clerk of the Superior court of Greene County by Georg W. LANE and Joseph J. LANE the executors therein named and the due execution thereof by the said John LANE is proved by the Oath and examination of H. EDMONDS one of the subscribing witnesses thereto It is therefore considered by me that the said paper writing and every part thereof is the Last Will and Testament of the said John LANE, and the same is hereby filed and recorded in my Office and the said George W. LANE and Joseph J. LANE Executors as aforesaid duly qualified as such by taking the Oath required by Law. John M.
