WHITMEL HARDEE 1897 I Whitmel Hardee of the county of Greene and state of North Carolina being in sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament 1st. I desire my lawful debts to be paid from my personal effects as soon as possible after my demise. I desire that my wife Fannie remain on this place with my two children until they are of lawful age to marrge (manage?) ____ for themselves, send them to school from the proceeds of the farm and manage as though I was with them. I desire that the stock on said farm be kept on the place and that there be no public sale after my death unless it be comes necessary for assets to pay my debts. I desire this plantation on which I now live to go to my son Whitmel after the death of his mother. I desire my daughter Fannie R. Hardee to share equal with my son Whitmel in dols and cents fom the estate both personal and real. I desire that David S. Smith pay over to my two children Whitmel and Fannie six hundred dols. and have and to hold the plantation near GreenvilleNE known as the Ringgold place and now belonging to me I appoint my wife Fannie Hardee executrix of this my last will and testament and also guardian for my two children Whitmell and Fannie R. without bond for the performance of duties In writing where of I Whitmel Hardee hereunto set my hand and seal this the 16th day of Dec 1895 Signed Whitmel Hardy seal Subscibed by the testation in the presence of each of us and at the same time declaed by him to be as his last will and testament Expunetus (Eusinetus?) Hardee E.H. Hornaday Greene County in Superior court before J.W. Blount Clerk of Superior Court in the matter of the WILL of Whitmel Hardee Fannie Hardee being duly sworn,, doth say : that Whitmel Hardee, late of said county, is dead, having first made and published his last will and testament: and that Fannie Hardee is the executrix named therein. Further , that the property of the said Whitmel Hardee consisting of lands, husehold , and kitchen furniture, stock,, farming emplements etc. is worth about 4000 dollars, so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application; and that Whitmel Hardee, Fannie R.
