The marriage bond was dated February 10, 1783. Children: Robert Barnes born April 26, 1784 John Barnes born January 12, 1786 Nathaniel Barnes born February 1, 1788 Pleasant Barnes born February 19, 1791 Ann Barnes born September 12, 1793 Martha Barnes born March 31, 1796 Nancey Barnes born August 6, 1798 Mary Barnes born March 4, 1800 Susannah Barnes born December 20, 1806 Chesley Barnes was born in Virginia on Slate River in 1760, day and month not stated. He was allowed pension on his application executed August 29, 1832 while a resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina. In 1840 his post office address was, Mayo, Rockingham County, North Carolina. He died September 8, 1840, place not stated. Soldier's widow Mary Barnes was allowed pension on her application executed May 25, 1844 at which time she was aged eighty-two years and a resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina. In 1852 soldier's daughter, Martha Gann, was living in Rockingham County. In the same year in the same county one W. Gann and one Nathaniel Gann witnessed her signature (by mark), their relationship to family not stated.
