All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Carolyn Shank Carolynshank@msn.com January 20, 2009, 6:05 pm Source: Patriot (greensboro, Nc) Written: 1839 STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA GUILFORD COUNTY WARDEN COURT 21st Aug, 1839 It is ordered by the Court that a change be made in the keeping of the Poorhouse, so that the keeper shall keep the poor by the head, feed and clothe them comfortably for two years from the 25th of December next, and have benefit of the plantation where the poor reside, and do all necessary repairs, thereto. - The keeper may purchase the stock, the crop on hand, the farming tools, and other chattels belonging to the County, except the clothing, bedding, etc. Any persons desiring to become the keeper their proposals in writing to any of the Wardens or the clerk in one month from this date. - Bond and approved security will be required.
