1805 Ordered that William Taylor orphan of John Taylor aged 11 years old the 
Day of Decr last be bound Mathew Shaw to learn the art and mastery of a 
Shoemaker and that he give him his full allowance at full age a horse saddle 
bridle of value of sixty 5 Dollars and good suit of new Close and that he give 
him 18th—

1805  Ordere[d] that Thomas Taylor orphan of John Taylor aged nine years old 
the the [sic] tenth of this Month be bound to John Shaw to learn the art and 
mastery of a cooper that he give him  18th Months Schooling at his arrival at 
full age that he give him a horse saddle & Bridle worth 60 Dollars and Give 
him a suit of New Cllose- pg 320.  Note: in 1810 census, John Taylor was 
listed next to John Shaw.

1805 Ordered that an Orphant boy by the name of William Taylor Which was bound 
to Nathan Shaw until he arrive at the Age of Twenty one year be taken from him 
and the Indenture Recinded. in the Tow[n] of Martinsville.

Ordered that an orphant Boy by the name of William Taylor age between 16 and 
17 years be Bound to William Starbuck Junior until he arrives at age of twenty 
one years and he is to give him Eighteen months schooling and learn him the 
Art and mastery of a Shoe maker and a horse bridle and Saddle to be worth 
Sixty dollars and freedom dues—in the Tow[n] of Martinsville.
