Rachel Bartley to John Bartley 100 Acres

This indenture made this twenty Sixth day of august 1805 In the year of our Lord 
one thousand eight hundred & five Between Rachal Bartley of the one part of the 
State of North Carolina in Guilford County & John Bartley of the County and State 
afsd of the other part witnesseth that the Said Rachal Bartley for & in 
consideration of the Sum of fifty pounds to her in hand paid by the Sd John 
Bartley the receipt whareof the sd Rachal Bartley doth hereby acknowledge she the 
said Rachal Bartley hath granted Bargained Sold a[s]ien & Confirm unto the Said 
John Bartley his Heirs & Assigns a Piece or parcel of Land in Guilford County 
Situated on the waters of Deep River Beginning at a black Oak Henry [Safrites] 
Corner Running North Ninety three poles to Post Oak Thence west one hundred 
Seventy two poles to four Post Oaks Pointers Thence South Ninety three poles to a 
Hickory Grub thence to the first Station containing one hundred Acres of Land be 
the same more or Less Togather with every appurtenance thereunto Belonging or in 
anywise appurtaining & all the Estate Right Title Interest Claim & Demand of her 
the said Rachel Batly of in & to the Sd Premises & Every part thereof have & to 
hold the premises above mentioned unto the Sd John Bartley His Heirs & Assign to 
their proper use for ever & the Sd Rachal Bartley for her & her Heirs will 
warrant and Defend the above Described premises against being the Just Claim of 
any person of by from or under her or them to the Sd John Bartley his Heirs and 
Assigns by these presents in Witness whareof Sd Rachel Bartley hath Hereunto Set 
her hand & Affixed her Seal the day & year above written

[Ongoing research indicates this is Rachel Hotton who married John Bartley Jr. 
selling land to her son John Bartley III – it is possible that John Bartley Sr. 
had died between 1800-1805.  Speculation only not proven]
