This indenture was made the 26th day of September in the twenty first year of 
our Independence & in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred & Ninety 
Seven between THOS. MOORE, ALEX.D MOORE, TINAN MOORE, MARY MOORE Senr., SARAH 
MOORE, MARY MOORE Junr., MARGARET MOORE all of the county of Guilford & State 
of North Carolina joint tenants & heirs of JOHN MOORE Senr. Dec.d of the one 
part to JAMES KNOTT of the other part Witnesseth the said THOS. MOORE, ALEX.D 
MOORE, TINAN MOORE, MARY MOORE Senr., SARAH MOORE, MARY MOORE Junr., MARGARET 
MOORE for divers good causes & considerations him thereunto moving be it more 
especially for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred & forty pounds 
current money of the State of North Carolina to them the sd. THOS. MOORE, 
ALEX.D MOORE, TINAN MOORE, MARY MOORE Senr., SARAH MOORE, MARY MOORE Junr., 
MARGARET MOORE in hand well & truly paid before the sealing & delivering of 
these presents whereof the sd. THOS. MOORE, ALEX.D MOORE, TINAN MOORE, MARY 
MOORE Senr., SARAH MOORE, MARY MOORE Junr., MARGARET MOORE Doth hereby 
acknowledge and themselves therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & 
therefrom doth acquite release and discharge the sd. JAMES KNOTT his Heirs 
extrs. & admrs. hath and by these presents doth for themselves their heirs 
extrs. and Admrs. grant bargain & sell ---?--- release and forever quite claim 
& confirm unto the sd. JAMES KNOTT & his heirs and assigns a tract or parcel 
of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying & being in 
the county of Guilford on the East Fork of Belue's Creek containing three 
hundred acres more or less and bounded as follows to wit
Beginning on the East side of sd Creek at a Black oak & Hickory bush thence 
along a line ---?--- by each party ---?--- crossing sd. creek six times to 
PHILIP JEANEs line to a white oak near his corner thence along his line South 
crossing sd. creek to his corner Black gum thence East along his line to the 
sd. JAMES KNOTTs line thence along his line the same corner to JUSTAIN KNOTTs 
corner white oak thence North along his line to his corner Hickory bush? 
thence East along his line to his corner poplar thence along his line North to 
the first station being in JOHN WOODSIDEs line to have & to hold the sd. three 
hundred acres of land & premises herein or hereby mentioned or intended to be 
herein or hereby granted bargained & sold together with the privilidges rents 
issues? profits & appurtenances therewith belonging or in anywise appertaining 
unto the sd. JAMES KNOTT his heirs or assigns forever So that neither the sd. 
THOS. MOORE, ALEX.D MOORE, TINAN MOORE, MARY MOORE Senr., SARAH MOORE, MARY 
MOORE Junr., MARGARET MOORE their heirs extrs. or admrs. or any other persons 
whatsoever shall at any time hereafter have any manner of write title interest 
property claim or demand of in or to the affsd. three hundred acres of land or 
any part of parcel thereof but that the same with all & singular the 
appurtenances thereunto belonging shall be and for ever hereafter ---?--- unto 
the only sole proper use & behoof of him the sd. JAMES KNOTT his heirs and 
assigns & further more the sd. THOS. MOORE, ALEX.D MOORE, TINAN MOORE, MARY 
MOORE Senr., SARAH MOORE, MARY MOORE Junr., MARGARET MOORE for themselves 
their heirs extrs. admrs. doth by these presents promise covenant and agree to 
& with the sd. JAMES KNOTT that they the sd. THOS. MOORE, ALEX.D MOORE, TINAN 
MOORE, MARY MOORE Senr., SARAH MOORE, MARY MOORE Junr., MARGARET MOORE their 
heirs & extrs. and admrs. shall & will for ever hereafter defend these 
presenst bargain & seal unto the sd. JAMES KNOTT his heirs and assigns for 
ever by agency warrantee against all & all manner whatsoever In Witness where 
of the sd. THOS. MOORE, ALEX.D MOORE, TINAN MOORE, MARY MOORE Senr., SARAH 
MOORE, MARY MOORE Junr., MARGARET MOORE hath hereunto set their hands & 
affixed their seals the day & year above written
