Guilford County, North Carolina land grant to John Maxwell, book 1 p. 526 
undated entry just before Robert Russell land grant dated December 19th, 1778.

526 John Maxwell a Tract of land containing Two hundred and eighty acres lying 
and being in our County of Guilford on the Waters of Reedy fork the North side 
of said Creek Begining at a Black Oak on George Fenley's line Runing North 
Three Hundred and Twenty poles to a black Oak thence West one hundred and 
sixty poles to a Maple thence South one hundred and sixty poles to a Black Oak 
at Jeremiah McGadgins Claim thence East forty poles to a White Oak thence 
South one hundred and sixty poles along W?  Gadgins Claim to a Black Oak on 
George Fenley's line thence East along his line to the begining
