 JAMES McCANN }
              THIS Indenture made this Twenty fourth day of August in the year 
of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and ninety three between Samuel McDill 
of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina of the one part and 
James McCann of the same of the other part witnesseth that for and in 
consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty pounds current money of said 
state to him the said Samuel McDill do hereby acknowledge and hath given 
granted Bargained and sold aliened and confirm unto him the said McCann his 
heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in 
the said County of Guilford and situate on the waters of the south fork of the 
Alamance ~~ Beginning at a black Oak grub on Peter Low's line Twenty Eight 
poles from his south westerly corner. Turning thence on his line N. 41 degrees 
one hundred and thirty five poles to his other corner a red Oak.Thence on his 
line North 48 degrees West to an white Oak. Thence North 73 degrees East 135 
poles to a post Oak stump beside the stump or part of a Hickory.Thence south 
33 degrees east 196 poles to an Oak.Thence to the first station.Containing two 
hundred Acres be the same more or less being part of a grant of four hundred 
and  ______ acres, Granted to said McDill by the State bearing date. ___ 
Twenty fourth one thousand seven hundred and Eighty four and number 188 log 
with all waters mines minerals Heriditaments and appurtenances to the said 
land belonging or appertaining to hold to him the said McCann his heirs and 
assigns forever free and clear from all Encumbrances whatsoever. The sum or 
sums of money yearly or otherwise as governors intent may direct by way of 
tradition only. Excepted and foresaid the said McDill doth to him the said 
McCann his heirs and assigns warrant and defend the said above Described Land 
and premises from and against himself his heirs Executors Administrators and 
Assigns and from whomsoever whatsoever. In Witness whereof he hath hereunto 
set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.
