     TO       } A deed for 214 Acres of Land - deed book 7 pages 77-78
JAMES McCANN  }
            This Indenture made this Twenty fifth day of May in the year of 
our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and ninety nine between Samuel McDill of 
the County of Guilford & State of North Carolina of the one part & James 
McCann of the same of the other part. Witness that in consideration of the sum 
of one hundred & forty nine pounds sixteen Shillings Current Money of said 
State to him the said McDill warranted to be Paid by the said McCann the 
receipt whereof he the said McDill doth hereby Acknowledge & hath given 
granted bargained confess & confirm unto him the said McCann his heirs & 
assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land of the South fork of the 
Alamance. ~ Beginning at a red Oak sapling on Peter Low's line running thence 
north forty five degrees east crossing Jacob's Branch one hundred and thirty 
eight poles to a post oak. Thence north forty eight degrees west forty poles 
to a hickory, post oak and white oak. Thence south 30 degrees east two hundred 
& twenty poles to a grub among some pointers. Thence west about half a degree 
North three hundred & Twenty two poles to the first station. Containing two 
hundred & fourteen Acres be the same more or less, being part of a parcel of 
four hundred & sixteen Acres granted to said McDill by the State bearing date 
of October 24th 1784 and number 188 together with all land waters mines 
minerals heriditaments appurtances to said land belonging or appertaining to 
hold to him the said McCann his heirs & assigns forever free & clear from all 
Incumberances whatsoever the sum or sums of money yearly or otherwise as 
government shall exact by way of Taxation only excepts & fore proved & said 
McDill doth to him the said McCann his heirs & assigns warrant & defend the 
said above described land & premises from & against himself his heirs 
Executors & administrators & assigns and from all persons whatsoever. In 
witiness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand & offered his seal. The day & 
year above written
