Thomas Moore to James Knott

This indenture made this Twenty First day of October in the year of our Lord 
Christ one thousand Eight hudnred & Twelve between THOMAS MOORE of the county 
Royn, Ray? (Roane?) State of Tenasee Attorney for the heirs of JOHN MOORE 
Dec.d late of Guilford County of the one part & JAMES KNOTT of the county of 
Guilford & State of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth that the sd. 
THOMAS MOORE as attorney afsd. for & in consideration of the just & full sum 
of Two hundred & Ninety Four Dollars Current money of the United States of 
America to him in hand paid at or upon the sealing & delivering of these 
presents the receipt whereof the said THOS. MOORE doth hereby acknowledge & 
are fully satisfied & paid hath by these presents for himself his heirs or 
assigns & in behalf of the sd. heirs of the afsd. JOHN MOORE Dec.d ever 
granted soto? sete over confirmed & made same unto the said JAMES KNOTT his 
heirs or assigns forever a certain parcel or tract of land situate lying & 
being in the county of Guilford & on the waters of Belue's Creek boudned as 
follows-Beginning at a Dogwood on Abel Lomaxs line & turning thence South one 
hundred & three poles to a stake JOHN COOKs corner in CORNELIUS COOKs line 
thence nearly? East forty five & three quarter poles to a stake thence South 
one hundred & twenty seven and a half poles to a willow in his own line thence 
East Ninety Five & three quarters poles to a red oak in WM. WOODSIDEs line 
thence North Two Hundred & thirty & a half poles to a post oak in HENRY 
HARRISONs line thence West one hundred & Sixty one & a half poles to the 
Beginning Dogwood containing One Hundred & Ninety Six acres of land be the 
same

more or less together with all the improvements thereon revesions? remainders 
issues? rents & profits also all the Right Title Interest property claim or 
demand whatsoever of in & to the sd. tract of land & premises & every part & 
parcel thereof with the appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise 
appertaining to have & to hold to the sd. JAMES KNOTT his heirs & assigns for 
ever to his & their proper use benefit & behoof for ever without any manner of 
molestation from him the sd. THOMAS MOORE or from his heirs & assigns so that 
The sd. JAMES KNOTT shall enter upon possess hold & enjoy as his undisputable 
Right of the above bargained premises at any time or at ll times free from the 
claim or claims of him the sd. THOS. MOORE or from the claims of his heirs & 
assigns forever so that the sd. THOS. MOOR Doth hereby for himself his heirs 
or assigns & in behalf also of the heirs of JOHN MOORE Dec.d as their attorney 
Warrant & Defend unto the sd. JAMES KNOTT hsi heirs & assigns for ever the 
above bargained premises from the claims of him the sd. THOS. MOORE or from 
the claims of every other person or persons claiming by or from under? him or 
any of them.  In Witness whereof he hath set his hand & seal the day & year 
written above.
