McCulloch Tract # 11 (to wit) (1) purchased in 1779 from North Carolina - 400 acres, grant # 194, entry # 456, deed book #33 page # 194 for 50 shillings per acre. (2) purchased in 1781 from William Armstrong - 300 acres, for 500 pounds.(no information ) (3) purchased in 1786 from U.S. Government - Grant 188, book# 62, page #30, 416 acres, for 417 pounds sterling (as per Archives; There were no documents in the Shuck at time of filming) Samuel McDill was this transcriber's GGGgrandfather on my GGgrandmother's side of the family. Ann McDill married my GGgrandfather, John McCann. LAND GRANT # 194 - Sept 24,1786 - WORK ORDER STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, No. 456 RALPH GORRELL, Entry Official of Claims for Lands in the County of Guilford. To the Surveyor of the said County, GREETINGS You are hereby required, as soon as may be, to lay off and survey, for Samuel McDill a tract of or Parcel of Land, containing four hundred Acres, lying in the County aforesaid on the waters of great Alamance. Beginning at a ____ on a black Oak __ ___ crafts claim. Running thence north to Peter Low's line thence east along Foust's line thence South for complement. Observing the Directions of the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided for running out Lands. Two just and fair plans of such Survey, with this Warrant, to the Secretary's Office without Delay. GIVEN under my Hand at Spring, Said the thirteenth Day of October Anno Dom 1778; Ralph Gorrell LAND PLOT AND SURVEYORS description of Land Grant # 194 - deed book 33 page 194. Plotted by the four pole chain 8/ac ___ of __ to an inch. November 23 1778 survey for Samuel McDill of land on the waters of Alamance in Guilford County pertaining to the land assigned. Beginning at black oak tree Near assigns Survey. Thence North sixty chains to a post oak, Peter Low's line. Thence with his line North forty three degrees East thirty five chains and five tenths to black oak saplin on Christian Foust's line. Thence on said line North twenty degrees East twenty three Chains to a post Oak. Thence South ninety three chains to Oak.
