This Indenture Made this twenty 5th day of May in year of our Lord one 
Thousand Seven hundred & Eighty Eight between Fortune Reeves of the County of 
Guilford and State of North Carolina of the one part & Jesse Reeves of the 
County & State aforesd of the other part Witnesseth that the Sd. Fortune 
Reeves for & in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred pounds Speci to hir in 
hand paid the Receipt whereof She doth hereby acknowledge have granted 
bargained enfeofed Sold and delivered and by these presents doth bargain Sell 
enfeoff and deliver unto the Sd. Jesse Reeves one certain tract or parcel of 
Land Situate lying & being in the Sd. County of Guilford on the water of Mairs 
fork of haw River Begining at a Maple on the South bank of Sd. Creek running 
thence South along Jesse Reeves line of a former Tract one hundred and fifty 
Six poles to a post oak thence East Ninety Eight poles to two white oaks 
thence North one hundred and fifty Eight poles a Stake Mx Campbell Line thence 
West forty five Degrees North thirty Six poles to poplar thence North fourteen 
poles to a Spanish Oak near the bank of Sd. Creek thence up the Various 
Mainders of Sd. Creek to the Beginning Containing in the whole one hundred 
acres be it more or less Together with all Ways woods Waters profits 
Commodities and appurtenances thereunto belonging and the reversion & 
reversions remainder & remainders rents Issues & profits thereof To have & to 
hold the Sd. Land & premises unto the Sd. Jesse Reeves his Heirs and assigns 
forever To the only proper Use and behoof of him the Sd. Jesse Reeves his 
heirs & assigns forever and the Sd. Fortune Reeves does hereby grant for 
himself (sic herself) and hir Heirs & assigns that She the Sd. Fortune Reeves 
& hir Heirs and every of them Shall & will & for ever Defend the Sd. Land & 
other premises & every part and article thereof with all & Singular their 
rights & appurtenances unto the Sd. Jesse Reeves his Heirs & assigns for ever 
against this the Sd. Fortune Reeves and her heirs and every of them & against 
every other person whomsoever In Witness whereof the Sd. Fortune Reeves hath 
hereunto Set her hand and Seal the Day and Year first above Written.
