This Indenture made the fourteenth of September in the year of our Lord 
Eighteen hundred & Sixteen Between Thos. Reeves of the State of No Carolina & 
County of Guilford of the one part & Leven Covey of the State & County afsd of 
the other part Witnesseth that for & in Consideration of the Sum of forty 
Dollars Current Money of the United States by the Said Leven Covey to the Sd. 
Thos. Reeves in hand before the Execution hereof the Receipt whereof the Sd. 
Thos Reeves doth hereby acknowledge & thereof Exonerate & acquit the Said 
Leven Covey his Heirs & Extrs and Admrs he the Said Thos Reeves by these 
presents hath granted bargained Sold assigned released Confirmed & Sett over 
unto the Sd. Levin Covey his heirs Extrs Admrs and assigns a Certain piece 
parcel or Tract of land Situate lying & being in Guilford County on the Waters 
of Mairs fork of Haw River. Beginning at a Elm on Janey (sic ?) Hutchinsons 
line running thence South one degree and a half East one hundred & Sixty Seven 
poles to a Red Oak thence west on John Doaks line thirty five poles to a Black 
Oak then North on Sd. Leven Coveys own line one hundred and Sixty Seven poles 
to a post Oak Bush thence East Twenty Eight poles to the first Station being 
thirty three & three Quarter acres Together with the Estate Right Title 
Interest property Claim & Demand whatsoever of in & to the Sd. piece parcel or 
Tract of Land & premises & every part thereof with the premises appurtenances 
thereto to have & to hold to the Sd. Leven Covey his heirs & assigns for Ever 
to his & Hiers only proper use Benefit & behoof & the Sd. Thos Reeves doth 
hereby grant that he will for himself his heirs & every of them Warrant & 
forever Defend the above bargained premises unto the Sd. Leven Covey his Heirs 
& assigns forever against him the Sd. Thos. Reeves his Heirs & every other 
person whomsoever In Witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand & Seal the 
day & year first above written.
