All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Elaine Randall English eng4@alltel.net October 27, 2007, 8:47 pm Written: 1782 Brumfield Ridley (Granville) to John Moore (Guilford) Book 2, page 216 Guilford Co., NC Deeds This indenture made the twenty first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty two between BRUMFIELD RIDLEY of Granville County in the state of North Carolina Esquire of the one part and JOHN MOORE of Guilford County in the said state of the other part, Planter Witnesseth that the said BRUMFIELD RIDLEY for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred pounds in specie in hand paid by the said JOHN MOORE before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said BRUMFIELD RIDLEY doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained sold and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell & confirm unto the said JOHN MOORE his heirs and assigns forever all that tract and parcel of land containing Six hundred and forty acres situate lying and being in the county of Guilford aforesaid on both sides of the east fork of Balue's Creek Beginning at a poplar on the side of a steep hill running thence West Twenty poles to a Hickory grub? in JUSTIN KNOTTs line thence along his line --?-- South eight poles to GEORGE PEARCEs? corner white oak thence along his line West two hundred and eighty three poles to his corner post oak and thence the same course one hundred and eighty one poles in all four hundred and sixty four poles to a Black gum in WILLIAM BOSSORUCKS? line thence along his line North crossing said East fork sundry times and Harvey's Branch once? two hundred and forty two poles to his corner Black oak in JOHN COUTTERs? line thence along his line one hundred and seventy --?-- poles to his corner white oak in JOHN MOOREs line aforesaid thence along his line South forty seven poles to his corner and thence along his line east three hundred and eight poles crossing said creek to a grub? in JOHN WOODSIDEs line thence along his line South one hundred and eighty seven poles to the first station being granted by ---?--- from the state of North Carolina to the said BRUMFIELD RIDLEY bearing dates the first of March one thousand and Seven hundred and eighty to which being had witness fully and at large appear together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said JOHN MOORE his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof and the said BRUMFIELD RIDLEY for himself and his heirs Executors and Administrators doth hereby covenant and confirm with and to the said JOHN MOOR and his heirs that the said land and premises with the appurtenances he will warrant and defend from all manner of persons claiming under or by him the said BRUMFIELD RIDLEY unto the said JOHN MOORE his heirs and assigns forever, In Witness whereof the said BRUMFIELD RIDLEY hereby hath set his hand and seal the day and year first above written BRUMFIELD RIDLEY (seal) Sealed and Delivered in presence of South & thence interlined before signing Guilford County August Term 1782 The within deed from BRUMFIELD RIDLEY to JOHN MOOR was acknowledged in open court & on motion ordered to be registered Test.
