Deed Robert Russell & wife to Levin Gray, 1791 Guilford County, North Carolina Bk 5 p. 273 This Indenture this Seventeenth Day of March in the Year of Our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety one by & between Robert Russell Sr. & Susannah his wife of Guilford County in the State of North Carolina of the one part & Levin Gray of the same County & State of the other part Witnesseth that the said Robert Russell and Susannah for & in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds good & Lawfull money to the said Robert Russell in hand paid by the said Levin Gray at or Before the Sealing & Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof the said Robert Russell hereby acknowledeth & thereof doth acquit & discharge the said Levin Gray his Heirs & assigns for ever & by these present doth give grant Bargain Sell alien Enfeoff Convey & Confirm unto the said Levin Gray a Tract or parcel of Land Lying in Guilford County & State aforesaid on the waters of the Reedy Fork of Haw River Begining at a white Oak on the West Bank of a Branch runing West Ninety two poles to a post Oak in Thomas Maxwells line thence North on his line thirty poles to his corner Black Oak thence North on his own line Twenty two poles to a Black Oak thence East thirty poles to a Red oak on the Bank of a Branch thence down the various mainders of said Branch to the first Station containing fifty acres be the same more or less it being a part of said Robert Russell old survey of Five hundred acres & likewise a part of his late survey of one hundred acres as also all the Estate Right, Title , Interest property Claim & demand whatsoever of them the said Robert Russell & Susannah his wife of in and unto every part & parcel of the afforesaid tract or parcel of land & premises & Every part thereof with their & Every of their appurtenances thereunto Belonging to have & to hold the afforesaid the Tract or parcel of Land & premises hereby bargained and unto the said Levin Gray his Heirs and assigns for Ever to his & their proper use Benefit & Behoof for ever the said Robert Russell & Susannah Doth grant they will for themselves & for their heirs and assigns & every of them Warrant & forever Defend the above Bargained premises unto the said Levin Grey his Heirs & Assigns forever against & from them said Robert Russell & Susannah & their Heirs & all & Every other person Claiming by from or under them or any other person In Witness wherof they have Hereunto set their hand & affixed their Seals the Day & Year above Written s/ Robert Russell (seal) s/ Susannah her X mark Russell (seal) Signed Sealed & Delivered in the present of Nobel Covey William Covery State of North Carolina } November Session 1791 Guilford County} The Execution of the within Deed was acknowledged in open court on motion let it be recorded Test: John Hamilton CC Duly Recorded JH Transcribed by Martha Thayer
