C046.40002 1796 John Shaw to Benjamin Shaw: Know all men by these presents that I, John Shaw of the County of Guilford and state of North Carolina, planter for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds of goods and lawful money of this state to me in hand paid at or before the e----- and delivering of these presents by Benjamin Shaw of the county and state affsd. The receipts whereof I do hereby acknowledge and thereof and of every part and parcel thereof of do acquit and discharge the said Benjamin Shaw his heirs --- and adm. Forever by these presents have given granted and sold and there by these presents fully freely and absolutely give grants bargain sill convey and confirm unto the said Benjamin Shaw in his own proper right and to his heir and assigns forever and certain. Tracts or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county and state affsd. And near the head of Haw River beginning at a jack saplin running north one hundred and sixty-six poles to a stake near a branch thence west sixteen poles to a stake near a black jack saplin then south one hundred and forty - six poles to a black jack saplin then east ninety-eight poles to the f---- station containing one hundred acres of land being part of a tract granted to James Olefante bearing date 14th of the 10th month 1788 as by deed will at large appear also by a deed of conveyance from Mr. Olefante to John Cummings/Cummins bearing date 1st of the 3rd month 1788. Together with all the privileges and appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise there unto appertaining to have and to hold the affs. Bargained promises unto him the said Benjamin Shaw in his --- own proper right and to his heirs and assigns forever so that the said Benjamin Shaw his heir and assigns shall be may and force and v---- of these presents enter into and upon the affsd and the granted and bargained promises and the same from time to time and at all times forever here after may have p---- and enjoy free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted and discharged from all manner of in cumbrance, what so ever and I the said John Shaw for myself and my heirs and assigns do covenant and engage the above d---- and bargained promises unto him the said BENJAMIN SHAW his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims or demands of all persons whatsoever claiming by or under me in w---- whereof I have h---- f---- my hand and affixed my seal dated 23rd day of the second month 1796.
