All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************************** State of North Carolina Guilford County September 5th 1831 Dear Sir after my best respects to you and family I should just in form you that your family are enjoying a reasonable state of health at present hoping when these lines arrive in your presence that they may find you all well thanks be to God for his mercies to us all I have nothing strange to inform you of at present your friends hear is generally well at this time except and accident your mother met with a few day ago by a fall of some feet which put her rist out of place but she got it replaced and it is now on the mend I received your letter which gave me great satisfaction to hear that You received your money that I started to you I have now received the ballence of the price which I inclose in with these lines I sold your land to John Gladson for which I received sixty three dollars and eighty seven and a half cents with the allowance made by the jury that (laid) of the land on account of yours being the sorriest lot I want you to write to me and let me know whether you receive this letter and its contents the sum that I now start to you is fifteen dollars we have had a remarkable wet summer and corn crops are likely (illegible) but remaines Your friend AB Edward Green Additional Comments: The above letter was addressed to William Jackson, Madison County, State of Alabama, New Market Post Office and postage states Way 25. The letter and envelope are owned by William Jackson's descendants and was transcribed and contributed with their kind permission. Edward Green 1762-1835 and wife Margaret 1769-1840 are buried in the cemetery behind The Friendship United Methodist Church in Monticello along with serveral following generations of their descendants.
