I take my pen in hand to inform you that we are all well at present and hoping that these few lines will find you in the same state of health. Mr. James Cates ask me to write to you. He wants to buy your lot of land. He says he will give you what it was valued at, which was one hundred & seventeen dollars … and if wants to sell it, I think is about its worth, he wants you to make him a deed & send it to me & he will pay the money or give his bond. Take his bond. I think is best. It would draw interest until you ______ _______ the opportunity of getting it. I could fold the note in a letter & send it to you if you say so and if you conclude to sell it to him, he wants you to make the deed and get Columbia More (Moore) & William Wells to witness it as there (their) hand writing can be proven here. You can write the boundres (boundaries) on the south by Elijah Jacobs & Lucy his wife, on the west by James Cates land, on the north by Mary P. Snipes lot which she has sold to James Cates and on the east by mothers land containing by a servation 58 7/10 acres. I have tried to wrent (rent) it out but could not get any thing for it. I think it best to sell it as it will be an expense to you. As it is, the taxes must be paid for it. Eliza sends howdy & Mary Torian is married. She married Mr. Dever.
